Deputy Editor

Deputy Editor was my first editorial role and took place on the second day of News Week. It was my first time on the editorial team so I was nervous about the day. I didn't really have any idea what the role of a deputy editor was, or what is was like to be in charge of a group. I decided in order to be the best deputy I could be, was to just support Fred in any way he needed.

Teamwork

The main role of a deputy is to work with the editor and assist them in any way they need. This included finding stories for the day and catching up with groups to see their progress amongst other things. I did feel as though the day was busy, and I rarely had time to stop and relax - but I didn't mind. I liked seeing how the groups were getting on, and how well the other editors were running the bulletins/social media.
